About Me: I was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I graduated from James F. Byrnes High School in 2006 and from Empire Beauty School in Georgia in 2013. Growing up in a small town has been one of the joys of life as I have always felt a strong sense of community and belonging. I am married to the love of my life and together we have four wonderful children and some adorable fur babies that bring much joy to our home. I enjoy thrifting, spending time with my family, taking trips and giving to others.
For over 10 years, I have dedicated myself to my career as a master cosmetologist. It is not just a job for me – it is my passion. “I love the feeling of transforming someone’s look and boosting their self-confidence.” I am the co-owner of Treat Yo’Self Salon and Co. and every day, I walk into the salon with a smile, ready to create magic with hair and make people feel amazing about themselves. It is a rewarding journey, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Parent Peer Specialist, Federation of Families of SC

About Me: I was born and raised in Spartanburg, South Carolina. I am a proud mother of a college student that has struggled with mental health challenges due to trauma from the early age of 4 but is now in recovery. It was through my daughter and my own struggles that I understood that my advocacy had to start at home, including learning how to manage and then providing support to others. I enjoy spending time with my daughter, my family and
I started working for the Federation of Families of SC as a Volunteer Family Facilitator in 2011 and after 4 years I took on a position of Parent Peer Support Provider. I work to help other families struggling to maintain and find hope in the systems that are supposed to help families raise productive young people into successful young adults. I have experience working as a Parent Support Provider with SC Continuum of Care, at the Community Mental Health Center, PRTF’s and providing community-based support for clients and their families. I love being able to support parents with their own lived experience to use their voice in meetings pertaining to the success and well-being of their youth when parents thought they didn't have a voice.
My overall goal as a mother and professional is to help break the negative stigma associated with the words “Mental Health” by educating families on how to stay well. “Life does not stop when you are given a diagnosis you learn to make it work for you and your family.”
